Also, on the Classes page, you'll find a unique offering that I consider a tribute to the long-standing (and still going strong) woodcarving career of my carving instructor, mentor, and friend, Wayne Barton. In this class, we'll carve his original pattern (with his blessing, of course) on custom-made (based on Wayne's unique plate design), on a 12" Butternut plate, or an optional 12" Basswood plate. This Chip Carving project also includes sculpting and piercing several areas around the plate's rim, making this a truly unique chip carving opportunity. The class is limited to 10 intermediate to advanced level chip carvers (members  and non-members of the Piedmont Wood Carvers Club), so it may fill quickly.
Because of the unique custom turned plates and equally unique design patterns, anyone interested in the Class, should call me first (828-226-6040) to discuss and reserve plate his/her preferred plate before going on-line to register for the class, This is spelled out more clearly on the Classes page referenced above.

If you are interested in having a Chip Carving Class in your area, or  a private class for 1 to 6 people at my studio in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, please let me know.
Thinking Ahead
I recently received an invitation to teach a series of classes next summer at the "Creede Woodcarvers Rendezvous" in Creede, Colorado, July 11-17, 2020. I'm very excited about the opportunity to meet and work with other woodcarvers in a new part of the Country. I'm putting together plans for the classes I'll offer during those seven days so that pre-registration can be done by those who will attend the "Rendezvous" this July. I'll report more here when I have more information. If you have an interest and would like to know more about what I'll be teaching, please give me a call at 828-226-6040.
