PREREQUISITES: Each student will select an appropriate project piece for him/her self, after the instructor has carried-out a basic skills evaluation with each student, including; proper holding of a Chip Carving knife, reading the wood’s grain orientation for the cleanest cuts, and a few others based on the situation. Novice Chip Carvers will require (and will receive) direct instruction. As more advanced Chip Carvers move on toward their project piece, Novices will receive basic training and, within an hour or two, will be able to start on a simple project.
